Well, the hubby finished the fence on Thursday and I will take some pics later this week and post them. It looks like a pro did it.
We went out of town to visit friends on Saturday and got back in time for our football game (we lost by 2 point, but still in the playoffs). After some drinks and hotdogs at the best place in town for dogs, City Dog, I worked on landscaping along the side of the house by porch light. Then we put out some decorations for Halloween, though we have a few more to put out and we want to carve a pumpkin.
I don't see us doing too much this week though. It's my birthday on Tuesday and tonight we're heading to DC to see the Redskins/Eagles game. Then Wednesday, I celebrate the birthday with my girlfriends. SO, hopefully I can finish up some outdoor projects on Thursday before it gets dark. This is, afterall, the last week I can work outside during the weekenights. I really hate the Daylight Savings fall back thingy -- at least at night. I DO like getting up when it's light outside, however.

Busy Birthday Week
Wednesday, October 21, 2009
Last night we continued to crank out the back section of our privacy fence. We finished the pickets and now only have to attach the trim pieces. That may take a while as one of the pieces is pretty bowed so we've put a cinder block on the bowed side hoping it will flatten out in a couple of days.
I did get the window boxes that I'm putting out there spray painted w/a black hammered finish as the hubby wasn't liking the mundane gray plastic they were sporting pre-makeover. After a 2nd coat I filled them pansies. Well, maybe 'filled' is not the right word but I hope after some watering and a taste of fertilizer they will fill the boxes!
Came across a couple of reality checks last night: 1) we don't like the fact that cold, dark winter is right around the corner. It was pitch black at 7 last night. Doesn't leave much time for getting outdoor projects done after work; 2) I was really tired after helping out on the fence so this could mean 1 of 2 things: I've gotten too old to accomplish as much as I used to after work or that all the projects I worked on in this house over the last decade have just worn me down!

Today is a miserable cold day so we're stuck inside instead of outside working on projects that we're trying to finish before winter really hits. Considering we both enjoy watching college football, I guess it's not so bad. Maybe I'll go make some popcorn and accept that this day has been a total waste.
