Christmas House Tour

That's right. This is a Christmas Tour of my Entire House. Only, you are seeing what my house DOES NOT look like this year, rather what it looked like when it was on the neighborhood's Holiday House Tour in 2004. However, I am planning to take pictures of our house this year over the weekend, where you will be able to see rooms that have gone through transformations since these pictures.

I'm posting these because:
(a) I wasn't blogging back in '04 (seriously, I didn't even know what the word 'blog' was) and it was an all out effort including a visit from my mom to help, and a lot of live greenery thrown into the mix. Did I mention she is in the Garden Club back home. And that she should've been an interior designer instead of stay at home mom. (Though she did an amazing job at that too.)
(b) work has been CRAZY so by the time I get home I'm too worn out to get my pictures done
(c) I was busy this past weekend preparing for the annual girls gathering which I hosted at my house this year so I was only able to snap a few shots of the table set for 9.
(d) I've never shown you pictures of the entire house!

ALSO, CHECK BACK ON THURSDAY MORNING FOR DETAILS ABOUT A GIVEAWAY!!

Welcome To The OLD [Circa 1885] House. (Before the Newlywed part came to be).

Come on in to the Living Room.

Down the hall past the stairs (we'll come back to those in a minute).

(OK, one more look back into the living room.)

Through the Dining Room:

Into the Kitchen (thru that door you can see in the dining room). Between the dining room and kitchen is a room called a Hyphen - a breezeway between the main house and kitchen. Most kitchens were not built as part of the main house back then. That kept the heat from cooking with fire at bay in the summer but more importantly, if they burned down (cooking with fire and all that grease) the whole house would not be lost.

Now we'll head upstairs. (There's a full bath here at the top of the stairs - the door behind the stair railing. It's small so I doubt we did any decorating in there, other than maybe a Christmas finger towel.)

Let's go to the right, into the Guest Bedroom. (See the silver tree, that's a vintage Pom Pom tree that my mom & dad had when they were first married. I use it every now and then.)

Now let's go across the hall and head into the Master Bedroom. The white tree is from my childhood and has homemade or other ornaments given to me during my childhood. I haven't used it the last couple of years.

And into the Master Bathroom. It's large compared to other non-mansion non-spa bathrooms and yes, there is a mantel in there too (if you were keeping count, the correct answer is 5, 5 mantels!).

Hope you enjoyed it and don't forget to check back on Friday for the special post mentioned above!
